The CIAOradio H101 is a portable 0.1–30 MHz Radio Receiver and Test Set
When connected and powered through a USB interface to a PC or a Laptop, it receives and demodulates signals of any kind: DRM, AM, FM, SSB, CW, PSK, RTTY, SSTV
The CIAOradio H101, supplied with the CIAOradio Software, integrates in a broadcast all-mode receiver many other interesting features typical of advanced instruments:
- Real time spectrum displays before and after demodulation with high dynamic and precision
- Digital filtering (brick wall pass band and multiple notch) of the demodulated signal with an easy and intuitive interface
- Digital records of the panoramic spectrum of the RF signals (up to 48 kHz wide) with high dynamic and accuracy for survey and post (off-line) demodulating purposes
- Records and statistics of the amplitude of the signals coming from two different antennas, for propagation and antenna diversity studies
- Comparison between two different antennas for gain and pattern measurements
- Thousands of memories for receiver parameter settings
- Generate CW signals with internal DDS (eventually with external reference for higher accuracy)

CIAO Radio è un prodotto di ultima generazione ed appartiene a quella categoria di apprecchi definiti come Software Defined Radio. È un ricevitore multimodo e test-set made in Italy, ideato, ingegnerizzato e costruito da due radioamatori torinesi, Claudio Re I1RFQ ed Oscar Steila IK1XPV. Da un punto di vista tecnico è decisamente un prodotto rivoluzionario ed innovativo, ha caratteristiche di tutto rispetto che ne fanno un ricevitore di classe; ha misure da pacchetto di sigarette o poco più (120x120x34 mm, piedini e connettori esclusi). Ovviamente, come le radio di questo tipo, consistendo del solo front-end, ha bisogno di un PC per poter funzionare; rispetto ad altri prodotti analoghi, si connette al PC per tramite del solo cavo USB e non ha bisgono di alimentazione esterna né di essere connesso alla scheda sonora per mezzo di cavetto dedicato.
Come ricevitore è una radio mutlimodo: FM, AM, AM sincrona, USB, USB sincrona, LSB, LSB sincrona, CW, DRM. Come test-set l'apparecchio è in grado di effettuare analisi di spettro, tracciare spettrogrammi e generare un segnale in CW non modulato grazie al suo DDS (che ha una purezza spettrale davvero degna di nota). Il software a corredo mette insieme una tal quantità di tools che la sua versatilità risulta davvero straordinaria.
